Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical Nutrition Therapy

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an application of the Nutrition Care Process focused on the management of diseases and disease prevention. MNT involves an in-depth individualized nutrition assessment and duration and frequency of care using the Nutrition Care Process to manage diseases. At Friends, Medical Nutrition Therapy is a patient-centered approach and includes:

    • Individualized nutrition assessment and screening

    • Dietary/nutritional evaluation

    • Nutrition education and/or counseling

    • Ongoing support during your care

  • Friends for All has the opportunity to provide supplemental nutrition support to clients who meet criteria for distribution. This is not a guaranteed service, and the status of oral nutritional supplement (ONS) support may depend on funding. If needing an evaluation for our nutrition support program, please contact your provider or Medical Case Manager about a referral to MNT.

  • Ready to get started? Speak with your provider or Medical Case Manager about a referral to MNT. Please note that MNT referrals require a medical provider’s orders.

After a referral has been submitted and accepted, clients can generally expect to receive a call to initiate services within 48 hours (about 2 business days) of receiving a completed referral.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a nutrition-based treatment provided by a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) at our Friends For All headquarters. While MNT isn’t required, our dietitian can help you manage your relationship with food and body image to help you live a healthier life!
